Kiveri is a historic place. According to mythology, this is where king Danaos came to anchor. There was also the Temple of Posidon and Mycenaic tombs as well as remains of an ancient settlement have been discovered. During the Middle Ages Kiveri was a medieval fortress and then, a castle was built, but its ruins aren't preserved until today. There have been many conquerors throughout history. First, it was the Franks, then, it was the Venetians and finally, it was the Turks. During the Greek War of Independence in 1821 the village of Kiveri was regenerated. Nowadays there are two dwellings, which look like castles that have been saved from the Modern History of the place. These dwellings have a double wall and they are surrounded by embrasures.
There are approximately 1000 inhabitants in Kiveri who are mostly occupied with the sea (i.e. fishing) and the agriculture of the prefecture of Argolida (i.e. citrus fruits, olives and olive oil).
During their stay, visitors can enjoy exquisite local products, such as oranges, fresh fish and olive oil.
